Indian grocery giant Indiatimes.com is working to open its own grocery stores in the US, according to reports, following the success of Indian online grocery company Fresh Express.
Fresh Express, which offers online grocery shopping services, announced in November that it was buying Indian grocery retailer Fresh Market from grocery chain CVS.
Fresh Express operates its own stores in India, and is looking to expand further to the US and Canada.
India’s biggest online grocery store, Fresh Market, is already the largest in the world, with nearly 70 million customers.
The company said in a statement that it would continue to operate the store as a subsidiary, though it did not specify what kind of role Fresh Market would play.
Fresh Market has said that it plans to invest $100 million to expand its US operations.
