This is the first time we’ve seen this happen at a grocery store in the U.S. (in the United Kingdom and Ireland).
Grocery employees at the Walgreens, Whole Foods, and Target stores in North Carolina had accidentally opened the bag of food inside the store, and then accidentally pulled out the bag.
The employee left the bag in the store for about 15 minutes before realizing the bag contained two bags of frozen food.
A Whole Foods spokesperson told CBS News that the employees were trained on how to properly handle the food, but that the situation was unfortunate.
The incident has been caught on video by the store’s security cameras.
The employee who was allegedly stealing the groceries left the store with the bags and was not disciplined, the spokesperson told the station.
